Spotlight: Piney-Z

Piney-Z is a community made-up of several smaller neighborhoods including Eagleview, Fieldcrest paired homes, The Gardens, and carriage homes. The homes were built in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The land was originally a working plantation. Today, Piney-Z is home to approximately 750 homes and a wide array of amenities. The community is surrounded on three sides by city parkland - Tom Brown Park and Lafayette Heritage Trail Park.

When construction first began, a pair of eagles were discovered in this heavily wooded area. Since no development can take place in any area inhabited by eagles, their immediate nesting grounds had to be maintained and a sanctuary established. Eagle View and Eagle View Drive were named in their honor.

Piney-Z is a Community Development District (CDD), which is a special purpose local government that provides services to its citizens. In addition to establishing the infrastructure for the community, the CDD also governs and maintains Piney-Z amenities including the Lodge, swimming pool, fitness center, Pavilion, Playground and Gazebo Park, and various common areas.
